Tamara Cabrera, Ph.D. Founder & Executive Director — GLOBALTRAD

Thank you for visiting my website. I am Tamara Cabrera, Founder and Executive Director of GLOBALTRAD. I founded the firm to support clear multilingual communication in international conferences, corporate events, and executive environments through expert conference interpreting and integrated technical solutions.

With a PhD in Translation and Interpreting and more than a decade of academic and professional leadership in the United States and Europe, I combine rigorous training with real-world experience to support effective communication across languages in in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

I am a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), the American Association of Language Specialists (TAALS), and the American Translators Association (ATA), reflecting my commitment to the highest professional standards in conference interpreting and multilingual communication.

Through GLOBALTRAD, I collaborate with organizations, companies, and event professionals to ensure that communication remains clear and effective in complex international environments.

Our Incredible Team

Erika Kugler, AIIC, FCCI

Hi, I’m Erika Kugler, an experienced simultaneous interpreter trained at the Conference Interpreting program at Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I’m a proud member of AIIC and TAALS, a U.S. Federal Court Certified Interpreter, and a Sworn Translator accredited by the Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (CTPCBA).

I was born and raised in Argentina and moved to the United States in 2007. I spent several years in the Chicago area, where I served as VP for Programs at the Chicago Area Interpreters and Translators Association, before settling in Cary, North Carolina, where I continue to work as a conference and court interpreter.

For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of doing what I truly love: stepping into the booth (or logging in online) and becoming someone else’s voice. No two days are ever the same, and that’s exactly what keeps me energized. Each assignment brings a new topic, a new challenge, and a new opportunity to fully engage with the message at hand. Helping people connect across languages, ideas, and cultures is what drives me, and there’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting it just right.

Monica Weber, MA

Hi, I’m Mónica Weber Salinas, a conference and court interpreter, translator, and language consultant with a truly international background. I hold a BA in Spanish, English, and German from the Dolmetscherschule Zürich, and I am a Master Certified Court Interpreter (A1) with the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts since 2016.

Over the past 35+ years, I’ve worked across continents and sectors—from supporting U.S. government officials and international business leaders in Mexico City, to collaborating with universities, healthcare institutions, law firms, and cultural organizations throughout the United States.

What I love most about this profession is its range and depth—one day I may be in a courtroom, the next in a clinical trial or a high-level meeting. Working across Spanish, English, and German (and even Swiss-German!), I’m constantly learning and adapting. Being able to step into different worlds, understand them quickly, and help ideas flow clearly and naturally between people is what continues to inspire me. There’s a unique satisfaction in knowing that communication is flowing exactly as it should.

From fellow interpreters working in a variety of languages—including ASL—to Jessica, our wonderful bookkeeper, and Charlie, our accountant, we rely on a trusted network of experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes—so we can stay fully focused on delivering seamless, reliable multilingual communication for our clients. We also regularly collaborate with AV teams and event planners to ensure everything runs smoothly.
